France is set to screen a work by prominent Iran documentarian Ebrahim Mokhtari with the attendance of the director
Paris-based Musée de l'Homme (Museum of Man) will host the screening of Mokhtari's ‘Saffron’ doc at Auditorium Jean Rouch later on April 7 within the framework of seminars by France Ethnographic Film Committee.
‘Saffron’ portrays the hardship of saffron growing farmers to dig Iran “red gold” which is a great, pricey spice. The doc was honored at film fests in Italy and Japan, among others.
Some extracts from his other award-winning doc ‘Leaf of Life’ will also be shown in the session attended by the director as well as a number of figures in documentary and culture.
Feature-length film ‘Leaf of Life’ is one of the director’s latest works made in 2017. The doc is about a man who agrees to plant and harvest saffron to supply the rest of the money he needs to buy a house.
The title won the best feature film award at the 6th International Green Film Festival held in Iran. Most recently, Vesoul International Film Festival of Asian Cinema in France honored Mokhtari’s work.
